Meet Our Staff

Tim McElhinny, Partner, started with the family owned agency in June of 1988. He has worked at every different level such as filing, customer service, sales, and management since joining the agency. He is currently responsible for sales, human resource management, accounting, payroll, and marketing. He specializes in Pittsburgh auto insurance, homeowners, life, and classic car insurance. Tim holds the industry designations of Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) and is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He is also a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the Professional Insurance Agents Assoc., and the Insurance Club of Pittsburgh. He has served as the treasurer and past proprietor of the Erie Insurance Fort Pitt Coffee House meeting group, and was a past Marketing Task Force rep for Erie Insurance for the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Tim is a graduate of the California University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. In his free time he spends time with his family and 3 children, and enjoys skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking.

Tom McElhinny, Partner, joined the family owned agency in June 1989. He started as a file clerk during the summers, and worked his way through customer service and sales. Tom currently oversees sales, account management, and underwriting. He is a member of the Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) & the Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC), which is recognized nationally as a symbol of professional excellence & leadership in the industry. He has served his fellow ERIE agents in being the Proprietor of the Fort Pitt Coffee House meeting group & represented all the Warrendale Branch agents as their Agents Advisory Representative. In his AAC position, he served as the liaison between agents and upper management of the ERIE. Tom enjoys hockey, golf, and tennis in his spare time, along with spending time with his family. He has been a youth hockey coach in the Pittsburgh area for years coaching young kids to high school age players.

Michael Seibel joined the agency in April 2017 as a Life Insurance Specialist and is now a full-time agent & customer service rep. He is responsible for servicing families for all lines of coverage, including auto, homeowners, boat, life insurance, annuity, and medical supplement needs. Michael received his Bachelor’s in accounting and MBA in project management; both from the University of Phoenix. He has worked in the finance industry since 2006, deciding to focus on life insurance in 2014. Michael loves helping people and uses his passion for life insurance to help people protect their families and wealth in the best ways possible. In his free time, Michael enjoys playing video games, fishing, and spending time with his son Tyler.

Cathy Schuessler started with McElhinny Insurance agency in 1989 and has been a licensed Property & Casualty agent since then. She also worked for an insurance broker in New York for 2 years prior to joining McElhinny Insurance. She specializes in developing and servicing auto, homeowners, personal catastrophe liability, boat, mine subsidence, and commercial insurance. Cathy holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), and Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designations. She is a graduate of the Boyd Career School in Pittsburgh PA. Cathy enjoys working with people to solve their insurance needs, and has developed a strong customer relationship base with the agency’s clientele.

Lisa joined our agency in January 2024 and has been a licensed Property & Casualty agent since October 2021. She specializes in developing and servicing auto, homeowners, personal catastrophe liability, boat and mine subsidence. Lisa enjoys helping customer’s save money and always tries to put herself in the customer’s shoes. Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, mom, children and grandchildren. Weekends you’ll find her at their camp where the whole family enjoys spending time together on their boat. Lisa is also a volunteer with Valley Inn Ladies Auxillary, who help raise money for the Valley Inn Volunteer Fire Department.
